The Basics of Weight Loss

There is no big secret out there to weight loss. No miracle pill. The Key to weight loss is DIET and EXERCISE. That's it.

The formula of weight loss is simple. 'Calories IN - Calories Burned'. If that number is negative by the end of the day, you are losing weight. I just heard over the news today of some guy who ate nothing but pizza for 30 days and lost weight. Is it true or myth? Absolutely you can lose weight eating pizza alone. The guy who did it ate a slice of pizza every 3 hours, and did 1 hour of exercise everyday. For anyone doing the math, a slice of pizza has around 300 calories. The guy who did this had healthy toppings such as chicken, mushrooms, peppers, onions. Let's assume he slept 6 hours a day, which is what a lot of people get these days. That means he was awake for 18 hours. He ate a slice of pizza every 3 hours. Since he probably ate his last slice 3 hours before going to bed (we'll get into why I'm making this assumption later), he ate 5 slices of pizza for around 1800 calories. Add in the 1 hour of exercise, and voila...He ends up having a negative calorie count at the end of the day. That's how you lose weight.

You don't have to eat lettuce all day and deprive yourself of the foods you want to eat in order to lose weight. All you have to do is make sure your Daily Net Calorie Intake is negative. My next post will be about how to count calories and why calorie counting is so important.
